CHRISTMAS PROJECT: CHRISTMAS FOOD - 1st ESO -

1. A TRADITIONAL CHRISTMAS DINNER

The traditional Christmas Dinner/Some photographs of food eaten.

Pigs in a Blanket Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 package hot dogs
  • 1 package cresent rolls
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Open can of cresent rolls, and roll out each triangle.

3. Place hot dog inside of the triangle, if you want cheese add half slice of cheese and roll dough around the hot dog.

4. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cresent rolls are browned.

Mince Pie Recipe

Mince Pies Recipe Ingredients:

  • Either make your own mincemeat as follows or buy a jar ready made
  • 1 lb (500 g) seeded raisins
  • 1 lb (500 g) currants
  • ½ lb (250 g) finely ground beef suet
  • Rind of 2 lemons
  • ½ lb (250 g) candied orange peel
  • ½ lb (250 g) candied citron
  • 12 oz (375 g) sugar
  • 2 lbs (1 kg) green apples, peeled
  • ½ tsp (3 ML) nutmeg
  • ½ tsp (3 ML) cinnamon
  • ½ cup (120 ML) brandy or rum
  • 1 Tbsp (15 ML) salt
  • 1 pastry recipe

Mince Pies Recipe

Mince Pies Recipe Instructions:

  • Heat the oven to 425 degrees F or 220 degrees C
  • Line large pie tin with pastry or line small patty tins with pastry for traditional British Mince Pies
  • Mix all ingredients together and pour into pastry cases
  • Place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Remove from oven and put on a wire rack and leave to cool.

Mince Pies Recipe Cooking Time:

  • Cooking time 1 hour.
  • Leave to cool before serving.

Mince Pies Recipe Serving Instructions:

  • Brandy butter is a traditional accompaniment but can also be served with Cream, Ice Cream, or Custard.
  • Can be served Hot or cold
